When I started my business in October 2018, I wasn’t really sure what I should be doing and how to run my own business. I learned as I went, which is quite normal and necessary. But it meant that I looked to others to see how they were doing things.
The problem with this is that it is very easy to get caught up in what worked for someone, and thinking that it will necessary work for you. But that’s simply not true. Someone else’s strategy and way of working isn’t necessarily going to work for YOU.
Why not? Because your business is not a carbon copy of someone else’s. So their content, their strategies, that work for them and resonate with their audience, aren’t going to resonate with YOURS.
Everything in your business needs to have your own voice in it. No-one else’s.
Everything needs to be aligned with your passion, your why, your goal. Your USP will disappear if you follow the crowd.
Standing out means staying true to who you are because this will come through in everything you say and do in your business.
In everything you say and do in your business, you want your own voice to come through. You need a strong brand identity and a strong brand voice.
The good news? This is possible!
You can forge your own path and be authentically you in everything you do, with your own strategy, your own plan of action.
Start at the beginning: identify your brand identity. What is your why? What is your big goal? Who are you trying to help? Why are you trying to help them? What is your aim with everything? What kind of business do you want to have and what do you want to grow it to?
Then you can think about what steps you need to take to get there, what you should be doing each week/month. what content you can be putting out, how you can express your message in a way that your ideal clients will understand.
These things will all come from honing your own voice. An added bonus of honing your voice? You’ll build the confidence to use it.
So you can get your blinkers on, get down to work and slay.
