When it comes to your marketing (and, I would say, your business as a whole), I always advocate for looking at things from a holistic perspective.
This is they way we do our own marketing at The Copy Atelier, and it’s the way we do our clients’ marketing, too.
The simple idea is that you need a balance of the yin and yang in your marketing – a balance of the “feminine” and “masculine” energies.
Both of these energies is needed, and problems occur when one of these energies is more dominant than the other. When your yin and yang is not in balance.
In business, what is often more common is the idea of the “masucline” energy taking precedence.
The idea of business being “war”. The picture of a CEO being a tough character who shows no emotion. And especially with women, the idea of any high-flying career woman or CEO being a bit of a b*tch.
With the yin or “feminine” energy, this is the one that is most often stereotypically associated with women. It’s the soft, emotional, intuitive, nurturing, empathetic qualities.
And in business, because of this stereotype, there’s often been an idea that female business owners can’t or won’t be as successful as male business owners simply because they will be too emotional or too “nice”.
Which we all know is ridiculous.
But what we don’t want to happen, which often does, is female entrepreneurs feeling like in order to be successful they have to prioritize the yang, the “masculine” energy.
Thinking that they have to go out of their way NOT to be emotional or nurturing in order to see success. They can’t be friendly or welcoming because then they’ll be walked all over.
And this is where the idea of balancing these energies comes into play.
The most beneficial approach for your life, your business AND your marketing is to be able to balance these two energies and to ensure that one is not dominating the other.
