If I had to boil it all down to the most important thing you can be doing when it comes to your messaging and marketing, it would be this:
Share your mission.
Dig deep into what mission it is that you’re on with your business – and then share it with your people.
Clarify what exactly it is you believe in.
Put into words what it is that you value.
And then go shout about it from the rooftops.
Because if you don’t?
You won’t have anyone wanting to join you on your mission.
You won’t have ideal clients and customers falling over themselves to listen to you, come along with you, learn from you, buy from you.
A great example of this is from the 1996 classic Jerry Maguire.
After having a moral epiphany, realizing he doesn’t believe in the status quo of his industry anymore, writing a mission statement that sums all of this up and then sharing that mission with his industry, colleagues & clients…
…Jerry (aka Tom Cruise) has to fight to get people to believe in it as much as he does.
He makes an impassioned speech asking people to come with him, to join him on this journey, to change things up WITH him.
Nobody stands up. Nobody believes.
Until Dorothy (aka Renée Zellwegger) does.
She said she’ll go with him because she believes in what he is trying to do.
She believes in his mission.
